Brendan Ryan is the Principal of Brendan Ryan Employee Benefits Consulting, a professional services firm specializing in all forms of employee benefits consulting, insurance placement and liaison, human resource outsourcing, employee mediation services, and benefit plan design. Associated with other highly skilled professionals in the Washington/Baltimore Metropolitan area, the Firm handles all areas of employer-sponsored benefits for public and private companies, non-profit organizations, and professional firms. Offices are located in Arlington, VA and Rockville, MD in association with Health Insurance Specialists, Inc.
From 1980, until he established his Firm in 1994, Brendan was Senior Vice President and leader of the Washington, DC Employee Benefits Consulting Practice of Sedgwick James of North America, a national employee benefits and retirement services company, acquired by Marsh & McLennan in 1997.
He is a graduate of Georgetown University and attended the University of Wisconsin Law School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, 1969 and 1970 and received an Honorable Discharge after completion of 4 more years of reserve duty obligation.
Brendan has been a Red Cross Volunteer since February 1994 and completed his third term as Chairman of the Arlington County Chapter Board in June 1997. He was appointed as Chairman of the VA/DC State Service Council of the American Red Cross in August 1997 and served in that capacity through June 2001. He also served a 2 year term on the American Red Cross National Nominating Committee for its Board of Directors and key Committee positions. Currently he serves as President of the Arlingwood Neighborhood Association and is a member of the Arlington County Civic Federation.
He is married to Jane Marie O’Connor and has two daughters, Alana Jane Ryan, and Margaret Rose Ryan.
